About Us

Our History

Founded in 1992, Houses of Hope International (HOHI) was established to rescue and meet the needs of children in crisis.

Children in need continue to fuel our passion today – our goal is to see every child thriving as part of a loving family.

As we traveled the world through the work of People for Missions (hyperlink to website), the sister organization of HOHI, we were confronted with the dire situation of the world’s orphans. In each community we began to invest in - from the mountains of Central America to rural villages in India- we found children in desperate need.

We were faced with a mission; a mission with a high calling.

Short-term relief was not the objective. Our vision was to see these children rescued and restored. It was to make them a part of our family, and support them in fulfilling the God-given purpose and destiny for each one of their lives.

As People for Missions continued to expand its effort, Houses of Hope followed.

Our first home, Case de Esperaza, was established in 1992 in the valley of Zacapa, Guatemala. Since then, we have grown from one house on twenty eight acres of land to six homes, fourteen full time staff, an onsite school, House of Hope Christian Academy, Votec Center for microbusiness and vocational training, medical clinic and community center.

HOHI has grown to include over 40 homes in seven different countries throughout the world.

The heart of Houses of Hope is to change history one child at a time; to help each child fulfill their God given purpose, and to see the next generation change communities, cities, nations and the world.

Houses of Hope International is a 501(c)3 organization, incorporated in the State of Florida, and headquartered in New York, USA.
